Problem
The 3ds MAX include the omni light tools. It casts rays in all directions from a single source. Omni lights are useful for adding "fill lighting" to your scene, or simulating point source lights. Now, I'd like to tell you how to use omni light in 3ds MAX.
Solution
- First, open 3ds MAX and create an object.
- Click
tag >
> Standard > Omni or Create menu > Lights > Standard Lights > Omni to create a omni light.
- Here are the parameters of the omni light.
►►General Parameters
►Light Type group
On----------------------------------------------------Turns the light on and off. Default=on.
Light Type List-----------------------------------Changes the type of the light.
Targeted-------------------------------------------When on, the light is targeted. The distance between the light and its target is displayed to the right of the check box.
►Shadows group
On----------------------------------------------------Determines whether the current light casts shadows or not. Default=on.
Shadow Method drop-down list------------Determines whether the renderer uses shadow maps, ray-traced shadows, advanced ray-traced shadows, or area shadows, to generate shadows for this light.
Use Global Settings----------------------------Turn on to use global settings for shadows cast by this light.
Exclude button-----------------------------------Excludes selected objects from the effects of the light.

►►Intensity/Color/Attenuation
Multiplier---------------Amplifies the power of the light by a positive or negative amount. Default=1.0.
Color Swatch---------Shows the color of the light.
►Decay group
Type----------------------Sets the type of decay to use.
►Near Attenuation group
Start----------------------Sets the distance at which the light begins to fade in.
End------------------------Sets the distance at which the light reaches its full value.
Use------------------------Enables near attenuation for the light.
Show---------------------Displays the near attenuation range settings in viewports.
►Far Attenuation group
Start----------------------Sets the distance at which the light begins to fade out.
End------------------------Sets the distance at which the light has faded to zero.
Use------------------------Enables far attenuation for the light.
Show----------------------Displays the far attenuation range settings in viewports.
