Problem
You have installed Windows 7 in a dual boot system along with earlier Windows editions or other systems, then you might want to remove it. Or else you have installed Windows 7 Beta and want to upgrade it to Windows 7 RC.
Solution
- Download and install EasyBCD.
- Run EasyBCD. Under View Settings on the left panel, you can view the OS currently in the MBR (Master Boot Record).
Uninstall Windows 7
- On the left panel, click on the Add/Remove Entries, choose Windows 7 and click "Delete" Button on the right panel.
Uninstall Windows 7
- Switch to Manage Bootloader and choose "Reinstall the Vista Bootloader" and click the button "Write MBR".This will overwrite the MBR so that you don't have to remove the OS from boot loader.
Uninstall Windows 7
- Now that the Windows 7 has been removed, you can format that partition. Go to Start –> Type Computer Management –> Go to Disk Management. Right click the drive where Windows 7 was installed and click Format.
Uninstall Windows 7
Tips
The quick way to remove an OS is editing the boot loader with System Configuration. But on the safe side EasyBCD is recommended to manage the Bootloader.
