How to Remount Ejected or Removed USB Devices Without Reinsert

Problem

I'm using Windows XP for a long time, and I often use many USB drives. Sometimes I ejected some of them by mistake, so I have to remove and insert the drive again, it's so troublesome... I want to know how to Remount Ejected or Removed USB Devices Without Reinsert.

Solution

  1. Right click "My Computer" and select "Manage".

  2. Switch to "Device Manager" in the left pane.
  3. Click "View" from the menu bar, and then select "Devices by Connection".

  4. Find the USB device marked yellow color exclamation in "USB Root Hub" branch.
  5. Right click it, select "Disable", and again, "Enable".

  6. Now you have Remounted Ejected or Removed USB Devices Without Reinsert.

Tips

For Windows Vista and Windows 7, the steps are the same, a little difference is, you just need to right click "Computer" icon and select "Manage".
