How to Change the Default Font in Excel 2010

Problem

When I use Microsoft Excel 2010 in my computer, it always provide "Arial Unicode MS" font with the size 11. This default font brings me a lot of trouble. Each time I need to change the font manually. So could I change the default settings and set my own default? If so, how should I do?

Solution

  1. Launch Microsoft Excel 2010 or open a workbook as follows.

  2. Go to "File" tab on the ribbon and choose "Options" then.

  3. In the following "Excel Options" dialog box, click "General" in the left pane.

  4. Find "When creating new workbooks" option and choose your favorite font from the list like this.

  5. Then choose the suitable size for "Font size".

  6. Click "OK" later.

  7. Then a warning will pop up. It tells you that you need to restart Microsoft Excel so that the changes takes effect. Click "OK" button.

  8. Restart Microsoft Excel 2010 to make changes for default font take effect.

Tips

Like the step 7, the new default font and font size are used only in new workbooks that you create after you restart Excel; existing workbooks are not affected.
