How to Change Device Installation Settings in Windows 7

Problem

Want to keep your Device drivers and information always updated? Windows 7 can help you to check the information and download automatically,or maybe you'd like to do it yourself. Anyway, you can make your choice by changing the Device installation Settings in Windows 7.

Solution

  1. Click on Startmenu, then open the Devices and Printers folder

  2. Right click on the Device with your computer name, select Device installation settings.

  3. Dot Yes, do this automatically (recommended), this will allow both the device drivers and information to be installed automatically by Windows 7 through Windows Update, so you need to turn on Automatic Update (see step 6). Press Save Changes.

  4. If you don't want Windows install any device drivers and information, configure the settings like this, then press Save Changes
    never allow Windows install Device Drivers and Information automatically
  5. Other settings will enable Windows to install part of the information, just read the instruction texts..

  6. To install any information through Windows update, you need to turn on Automatic update and check the Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates option.
